Celebrate National Nutrition Month® with GoHealthNow!

Did you know that March is National Nutrition Month®?  For the past 38 years, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics has sponsored National Nutrition Month.  The Academy is the driving force for promoting healthy eating and nutrition education, through its more than 100,000 credentialed food and nutrition professionals.  This year’s theme, Go Further with Food reminds us of the vital role of nutrition and wellness in the workplace. What employees eat and how they eat matters; the right foods and the proper facilities for meals and breaks will power them through the day.  When employers invest in their workforce, the benefits are twofold: a boost in employee morale, and lowered healthcare costs due to fewer sick days and higher productivity.

GoHealthNow’s online platform honors National Nutrition Month® with a variety of resources on nutrition and wellness for employers to support their robust and productive workforce.  From healthy lifestyle news and supportive online discussion groups, to quick access to telemedicine and a network of healthcare providers at your fingertips, access to evidence-based health and wellness resources has never been easier.

What better way to welcome spring in March than with National Nutrition Month®? As we leave the cold winter days behind, it’s the perfect time to jump-start your employees’ health.  Here’s several ways to celebrate National Nutrition Month® with your company:

  • Provide healthy snacks in the breakroom, such as fresh fruit and granola bars.  If you have vending machines, work with the contractor to provide healthy food options.
  • Ambience is everything.  Make the break room welcoming for employees to relax and to eat meals by keeping it clean, safe, and with adequate lighting.
  • Encourage employees to take actual breaks. A walking group is a great way to get people outside for some fresh air.
  • Take advantage of GoHealthNow’s wide network of health services. Stay tuned to GoHealthNow as we build our network of registered dietician nutritionists (RDNs).  They will help your employees take a big spring step forward towards a healthy eating lifestyle.
